Boys State Yearbook finished

This summer, I spent about a week and a half volunteering at the American Legion Boys State of Kansas program, which is a week-long government and civic leadership camp and simulation for high school juniors entering their senior year.

While there, I was in charge of producing the yearbook for the program. I finished it shortly after State ended on June 11, and now it is printed and delivered to everyone who attended.

Below is a scan of the cover of the yearbook. It is a great recap of the week that was, and I hope for the Staters of this year experienced a truly life-changing experience.

The summer before my senior year of high school I was lucky enough to take part in the American Legion Boys State of Kansas program where I was the editor of the daily newspaper that served the program.

It was a week that changed my life.

I got the journalism bug, and I followed that new passion through college, to writing for various news organizations, to being the editor-in-chief of student publications and a weekly newspaper, to now teaching journalism to high school students.
