Inman Austrian Pines Cut Down

Paul Harshberger, owner of Paul’s Tree Service of Hutchinson, piles up and burns a grove of Austrian Pine Trees that was removed recently along Cherokee Road outside of Inman. Owners Lewis and Ruth Neufeldt had the trees removed because they were dead from disease. The Neufeldts enlisted the help son-in-law Harshberger to have the timber taken down.

The Neufeldts’ Austrian Pines had been standing along Cherokee Road for more than 50 years, Ruth Neufeldt said. Though they had to be ripped out and burned, she said she and her husband planned on replanting trees in place of the pines.

Harshberger said once his crew is done not even stumps will remain of the pine trees. “They did an excellent job taking them out,” Ruth Neufeldt said.
