Friends Welcome Home First Baby

My good friends DaWayne and Britney Stos had their first child this month.

She’s a cute little girl named Aspyn Lo Stos, and she is a long baby, checking in at 20 inches.

Her arms are long enough that she doesn’t seem to know what to do with them at times, so when she sleeps she sometimes just sprawls out, at least when I’ve held her.

Sadly, she looks a bit like her father, but everyone is hopping she gets her athletic ability from her mother, who was a dynamite volleyball player at Moundridge High School. I went to high school with DaWayne at Canton-Galva, so I can attest for his athleticism.

I couldn’t be happier for DaWayne and Brit. They are going to make great parents, as long as DaWayne doesn’t have much to do with raising her. 😉

What follows is the birth announcement that ran in today’s Ledger, along with a few pictures I took while Aspyn and Brit were still in the hospital:

MOUNDRIDGE – Aspyn Lo Stos was born July 2 to DaWayne and Britney Stos of Newton.

Aspyn weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces and was 20 inches long.

Maternal grandparents are Warren and Jerri Kaufman of Moundridge.

Maternal great-grandparents are Larry and Betty Krehbiel of Elyria and Leda Kaufman of Moundridge.

Paternal grandparents are David and Renita Stos of Galva.

Paternal great-grandparents are Coila Fitzsimmons, Haviland, Pauline and Darrell Keen, Perkins, Okla., and Marcella Stos, Otis.

Yes. That is the proud new father playing with the oxygen mask his wife used during birth. From the looks of this photo, Aspyn is in trouble . . .
